Post subject:  vibration level questions

I recently updated my helicopters to 3.1.

One of the notes in the change log mentions the real time vibration level/telemetry being modified to show a more accurate representation of the model. Today on my align 700 nitro, in a hover, under esc telemetry "output" (vibration level) I was getting readings of 100-101%. Prior to 3.1 I was getting readings around 10-20%.

While I am definitely trying to investigate because I can tell there are awful vibrations, that's quite a big difference.

So for the new vibration level readings being more accurate overall, 1) I'm not sure how I got readings over 100% unless the scale has changed, and 2) has this new method been tested on nitro models, because it's almost hard to believe it could be THAT bad. I will test my other nitro tomorrow...

Hi,

Tomas explained once that the new vibration level is calculated from all 3 axes - the old one was just using single axis. in addition the algorithm is more exact. seems now to be more like the results in the Spirit settings tool.

i've been seeing peaks 100+ with 3.1 too (and not with 3.0 before).... checked it with settings tool and y-axis showed the same. was easy to feel with fingers on the boom - in my case it was dead tail shaft bearings. now vibration level is < 50 even in hard 3d moves. ok, not a nitro, but e-heli :)

Hi,

in the previous versions vibration level seen at the Telemetry was showing vibrations that unit was unable to filter.
Instead now vibration level is showing vibrations from the model in the similar way as Spektrum Analysis but from all axes.
So now you can see if model is really allright.

I’ve been going through the model but haven’t found any obvious source other than the vibrations that normally come from the engine. It’s not 100% peaks, it’s 100% constant in a hover.

I’ll look through the rest and retest a bit later. My understanding is that it should not read over 50? My electric 700 is only hitting maybe 5% in a hover

It might be hard to obtain low readings with nitro, but it should be rather under 100%.
On electric helicopter vibrations should be always under 50% during hover.

Usually tail mechanics is producing the most vibrations if there is something wrong. Then the motor itself.
