Okay so I recently changed my century radikal g20 gasser to fbl and I had purchased the ikon2 BT FBL. I liked it but the rescue was weird sometimes. I read up on the spirt pro fbl and I like some of the features. Okay so I have a 20 year old futaba 8uhps (that I bought new when I first got into helicopters) that I'm using a spektrum 2.4 ghz module on. I can use the dsm2 sats so that is what I am using. I just ordered the device to hook up the other satellites as the gps takes the one sat port. I have the spirit all set up, I enter stabilization mode with negative gyro (and I'm using banks to switch from disabled, to stabilized to rescue) and when I do the swash servos start to randomly move while the heli is on the ground. Same with rescue mode, the servos oscillate around. Is this normal? I have rth set up on channel 8 and it seems to set properly, although I haven't tried to use it yet in the air. I tried the stabilization mode and the rescue mode and sometimes the heli takes off to the right. I learned that when in scale stabilization mode the gyro is in rate mode, so I am using stabilization acro mode now so that the unit stays in heading hold even when I switch to negative gyro rate mode. When using the ikon2 it had vibration analysis and my heli was under the vibrations so I don't think that is a problem.... Anyhow, looking forward to using this fbl and look forward to any help you guys can give me. Just wondering for now if the swash plate servos are supposed to dance around when the stabilization and rescue activated when heli is on the ground or am I doing something wrong? Thanks. |

Are you looking for a rescue type stabilization mode, or one to fly around in? If rescue, then I would recommend setting a switch to enable rescue, not switching into a different bank where it is enabled. Either set up a switch to change tail gain to a negative value, or set up a spare channel to enable and disable rescue. If you power up the heli while rescue/stabilization is on, the servos will do a dance to warn you of that. Spirit also has vibration analysis, I would recommend checking vibration levels. Though it is very tolerant, gassers are always a challenge. |

When you activate rescue on the bench the servos should move together to bring the swash up to preset amount, usually 70-80 per cent of total pitch. |

I’m looking for both stabilization and rescue. That is why I have it set on a bank. Bank 0 is normal, bank 1 stabilization and bank 2 rescue. I activate the banks by way of negative gyro gain. The servos twitch or dance around on the bench when gas engine is turned off. |

Okay, I made a little video of the servos all jerky... sorry didn't realize the osmo pocket I was using was focused on the reflection of the swash in my computer tower reflection. Anyhow, you can see the servos acting up... this is with the gyro swith set in rate mode and I'm using banks to go through stablize coaxial, stabilize acro and then rescue normal. https://youtu.be/CAAA7xm72Ws |

BTW I notice the twitching only starts when the gps unit light turns blue, and stops if I unplug the unit. Which make sense why sometimes it doesn’t occur... I don’t always get a satellite lock in my house. So is this normal or?? |

Yesterday I flew with position hold turned off and it flew great. So I’m guessing my gos unit has an issue? I just bought this should be warrantied? |

Hello, the video shows perfectly correct behavior. There is nothing wrong with this servo movement, especially when you are in a building. This will be visible with any GeoLink, but not when flying. I do not recommend to take off with Position Hold engaged. If you will engage then at least few seconds after GeoLink will acquire signal. Please perform vibration analysis with Spirit unit to check vibrations. They can change at any time on the model, the longer you run it, the bigger is chance for anything to worn and get worse. Also I dont recommend to engage all the features at the same time. Right now you are engaging likely Position Hold which is special kind of Coaxial stabilisation. Try to engage only stabilisation or rescue without engaging Position Hold or other features. |
