I'm perfectly happy using my computer or android app to set up and change settings on the Spirit units I have but would like to get ESC telemetry data back to my TX.

I can do that with your Integration but it adds complexity which I don't really want.

Can I use Castle Creations "Telemetry Link" with my Spirit units, without adding an actual RX to my models? With the support for SRXL2 sats now, I wonder if the Spirit unit could replace both the RX and Telemetry parts in the attached diagram?

yes, it can replace receiver and telemetry module completely.

You will only need Spirit unit, ESC, SRXL (SPM4649T) or a SRXL2 receiver.
