Hi everyone, someone helps me to clarify how to properly configure a governor in the spirit? In practice my heli (oxy3) 285 mm main blade and 11 teeth of pinion with lipo 4s and 4100 kv motor,by doing the calculations the head exceeds 4,000 rpm head with this configuration, and Lynx recommends using 47 mm tail blade above 3,500 rpm head ,and 50 mm tail blade under 3.500 rpm
I only have those of 50 mm tail blade so I have to reduce the rotor speed and they explained to me that I can do it in the curves of the radio, using a flat throttle 70 70 70 70% curve.
Now I would like to understand how to set the governor in the spirit and where to set the rpm, only on the spirit and leave a curve 100% of the throttle in my radio,
or do I still have to reduce the percentage of throttle at 70% all the time even on the radio?
Thanks

If you want to use the spirit governor:

1) Turn off the esc governor if it is enabled.

2) Make sure you have an RPM output lead from your esc into the spirit as per manual.

3) Go to the governor screen in the software, check the box that says enable governor, set the correct gear ratio for your helicopter as well as the sensing divisor value.

4) Make sure your esc is calibrated correctly with the endpoints in your radio (your esc manual should show how to do this if you don't already know)

5) To set the headspeeds you wan with the governor enabled; where it says MAX headspeed: You can enter any number here you want.

Your actual headspeeds are chosen by setting a flat throttle curve in your radio for each flight mode. The throttle % you choose for each flight mode is going to be the % of whatever number you typed into the max headspeed value. For example if you enter 5000 into max headspeed, and you want 3500 to be the governed headspeed, then your throttle curve should be a flat 75% since 5000 times 0.75 = 3500. It will also show you on the bottom left of the governor screen what value is being requested by your transmitter, just don't test that with the esc hooked to the motor, or blades on the helicopter because it will spool up!

6) adjust governor gains until it's holding the best it can.

For the first 4 points, there are no problems, I have already done everything.
From your answer I seem to understand that the rpms are always determined by the% of th in the radio, regardless of what I choose as a value inserted in the unit?

Thanks

Yes, your headspeed/rpm is determined by the flat throttle percentage you set in the transmitter. And that percentage, is a percentage of whatever number you choose to enter into the 'max headspeed' box.

So like the above example, if I decide to put 5000 into the max headspeed box, and want 3500, my throttle % should be set to 75%.

But it can be any number. If you set 3500 as the max headspeed, then you'd need a 100% throttle curve to get 3500. Etc. Max headspeed is just setting a control number so that the spirit can know what other percentages should equal number wise. You do not need to try to figure out what 100% throttle would actually equal if you were running the heli ungoverned.

Hi thanks for your answer

In your example there is a small calculation error, but it is not a problem. 75% of 5000 = 3750 and no 3,500 rpm
The last thing that is not clear to me is the last words;

But Max headspeed is just setting a control number so that the spirit can know what other percentages should equal number wise. You do not need to try to figure out what 100% throttle would actually equal if you were running the heli ungoverned.

Last thing you told me about using the esc attached to the motor, neither with the blades, but how to calculate the sensing divider? My motor is 5 poles I have to divide it by 2, so 2.5? In the box I can't write 2.5 but I have to do for force the test, how to do it? with pinion away from the main? but with the motor connected to the esc?

Ah yes, sorry I meant 70% not 75. But it seems that you get it either way ;]

Which motor do you have in there? The recommended xnova 4100kv motor has 6 poles.

Hi I made a mistake too, my motor
has 6 poles, and 5°
degrees (timing):)))

THE MOTOR is Eox 2214-4100 kv
