Post subject:  Setting the cyclic ring value

[Gaui x3]

With 360 blades, the max cyclic ring appears to be about 10° as prompted by the setup software (it shows "too high" if I go over 10°).

What's the correct way to determine the max cyclic ring value, e.g. if I change to 380 blades, how do I measure to ensure there's no (or a reduced) possibility of a boom strike during rescue?

http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... LIMITS_TAB

The manual says to set it to collective pitch or less (in my case that's 13° with 360 blades) which last time resulted in a boom strike during rescue   so setting it the same as the pitch is too high.

Hello,

blades have no effect on the Cyclic Ring value. You can set same value with any size.

But for possibility of the boom strike it has impact. With a smaller helicopters it should be normally not possible to achieve boom strike if head speed does not drop too much or the angle is not extremely high.
In some cases when you will add collective pitch and cyclic is deflected to a maximum extent, resulting angle could be way too high.

13° is quite high value for collective pitch so you will need also high/constant head speed to avoid a boom strike. If such high value is needed then I recommend to set 10-11° for the Cyclic Ring. But even with a lower value you could achieve boom strike if head speed will drop rapidly and there is very big angle between blades. So it is very hard to answer.

I don't need pitch to be 13°, I've just always set it there, i'll change the pitch to 11° instead. Head speed is 2900, Thanks for your help.
