Post subject:  Trex 450, Geo Link - the question

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, my name is Denis and I have Trex 450 with 6 channel Spektrum receiver. (AR6110e). I'm just setting up my heli with Spirit system and Geo Link and I have a few questions.

What is the minimum number of channels I need to have, in order to be able to use all the functionalities of Geo Link (seems that my 6 channel receiver isn't enough)?

I'm also trying to figure out the best mounting postion for Geo Link on Trex 450. So basically - if I place it before horizontal stabilizer, then it's 5 cm from the center of tail servo, but it's 3.5 cm from servo edges. Is it far enough in order for Geo Link compass and GPS to work properly? If I place it after the horizontal stabilizer - then it's far enough from the servo, but it makes then the tail heavy, spoiling the balance of the heli.

Do you have some idea where should Geo Link be mounted on Trex 450?

Thanks,
Denis

Hello Dennis!

Welcome in our forum!

Basically 6 channel receiver is enough but you can use just one channel for the GeoLink.
This mean that you can engage at least 1 feature of the GeoLink, but you can assign more features to the same channel to engage simultaneously.

For example Return to Home and Altitude Hold features can be combined together.

But you will have to unassign Gyro Gain channel first - this can be done in the Channels window.
So that Channel 5 will be used for a GeoLink.

For Altitude Limit and Altitude Hold mounting is not that important. But for other the performance could be reduced if it is too close to the servo. You might try it but mounting it further is always better. Each servo has different properties so it might work well. You can do a test by moving the GeoLink closer to the servo and check how the Compass heading is changing. It should not change at all.
