I thought I read somewhere about this but now I cant find it. Is it ok to mount the Geo inside a scale fuselage. I have a trex 550 stretched to 600 and it will be going in a jetranger fuse. It will be mounted on the boom but as near the frame as possible due to the fuse. It will not have a direct view of the sky. It will be obscured by fiberglass and several layers of paint. It wont be mounted on anything magnetic including screws. Is this an ok setup and if it'll work will I see any lesser performance like this? Id sure hate to mount it outside the fuse and interfere with the aesthetics of the fuse. Thanks, Mike |

Hello, very likely it will still work, but performance can be affected. First thing you could notice is a longer time required for finding a GNSS signal. And other could be worsened precision of all features. It is just hard to tell you how much it could be affected without trying it. It is possible that you will not notice a difference. But always any additional obstacle between GeoLink and sky will mean possible degradation. This apply for any similar technology. Fortunately fuselage is not a big issue. |

I just read thru the manual again and realized the geo will not work where I intended to put it in the fuselage because of the magnets that hold the front of the fuse on so I have another question. What are the chances the geo can be painted? I have a new location in mind outside of the fuse but it would be real nice if the case could be painted to blend in with the paint job a bit. |

Trying to do the same. Guess we have to mount the geolink on the tail fuselage. Just ordered the new mount from spirit to try it out. http://store.spirit-system.com/en/acces ... older.html |

You can paint GeoLink with nearly anything. There should be no noticeable effect on the performance. It is only important to not cover a point above the connector where air is coming in the GeoLink. |

Dear Mr.Thomas, Should this important information has to be mentioned in the user guide? In few weeks or months we may forget this post. It appears this is how the unit takes altitude information based on atmospheric pressure. Please enlighten us. Basically it is already there in other words. There is note to not perform any modification to GeoLink. But we have added note also about connector and pressure as you suggested. Thank you! |
