I have tried a number of times to calibrate my geolink compass following some of the tips on here

I am painting my sphere with the unit off the heli, connected via a 24" lead, until I get a regular single flash but when I recheck against a compass ( oil filled diving compass ) the geolink reads 135 when lined up with the front facing north instead of the 90 it should read

Maybe I am not understanding the painting process, am I meant to have the base of the unit always touching the sphere or should it be upright all the time

Has anyone done a video of the process

Thanks for any advice
Andy

Hello Andy,

during calibration process it is needed to rotate with the module itself in all possible directions so that you wont see any fast flashing anymore.
This mean to do 360° turns, while rotating by at least 45° in perpendicular axis after each full turn (360°).
So after 8 turns it could be fully finished.

In any way it shouldn't be possible to perform the calibration completely wrong. It should rather always be usable after the calibration.
So maybe the problem is just in the measurement. When measuring the module should be at flat, horizontal surface.

Thanks Tomas
I am going to try again later with geo connected to a different model
I think I may have been too close to the magnetic mounts on my Logo while doing the calibration (although I tested with a normal compass and could get quite close before it moved)

Magnetic mounts can be big issue. It should be as far as possible - at least 25cm.

Must have been the magnets
Calibrated fine connected to another model , obviousy the geolink is more sensitive to magnetic fields than an analogue compass

Just need to test fly now
