Hi, What would the best "ballpark" settings be for the following parameters for the maiden flight of my Oxy 4? Cyclic Ring (I usually run 12º) Cyclic gain (I'm running 325mm blades) Rudder Gain Elevator Filter Pirouette Consistency Rudder Revomix (if any used) Governor Response Holding Performance Thanks! |

I've had 10 flights on my Oxy now and it's getting there. Still a few tweaks required but wondering if this seems odd... Luca recommends that the tail gain be set 10-15 points lower than what you'd initially set for a 450 size heli for a maiden. This is due to high mechanical gain of the Oxy. So with Spirits 50% recommendation for rudder gain for maiden, I set 15% lower than that and maidened at 35% in the Spirit. The tail was terrible and barely holding on. I've slowly bumped up the gain bit by bit with each flight and am now at 80% gain and it holds pretty nicely now. Still has a slight kick on hard pumps but barely noticeable. I can fly fast and hard through a bank and no tail oscillations are heard as would be expected if over use of gain. Question is... Is 80% in Spirit with a 1x multiplier on Common Gain equivalent to 80% in other FBL's? I'm just surprised I'm this high based on what Luca said about the Oxy's significant mechanical gain and to try a gain setting much lower than expected. Thoughts? I've also increased Cyclic gain to 65% and still get a slight porpoising in FF when applying hard collective. Should the Cyclic go higher? |

Hi, I guess that recommendation of Luca is for very different FBL. Our FBL is different so it is very normal. You can increase the Gyro gain until you will see any oscillation in fast forward flight or pitch pumps. Regarding Cyclic, the issue is usually caused by Center of Gravity or servo mechanical center. The center must be configured so that all servo arms are at the center, when you enable Servos/Subtrim (tuning) menu. At the same time there should be 0° between blades. So even with the lowest cyclic gain it should be not there if all is OK. To find how to configure it perfectly precisely please check this page: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... tive_Pitch |

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Mind is at ease now on the tail issue. I set the heli up with Soko and it's usually bang on, but am looking at the swash today and the swash is slightly tilted forward to the naked eye. I noticed that I was slowly losing altitude yesterday and needed to ride the elevator a bit. I'm guessing that's leading to my porpoising during FF pitch pumps etc. Will re-level the swash and read through the info you linked me too as well so I don't miss anything else. Cheers! |
