Post subject: | Frsky X6R receiver SBUS connection to spirit (red) |
Hi all, got my first spirit yesterday . I try to connent my normal X6R receiver to the spirit device (first, without integration). I connected ESC with BEC to X6R (ch 1) and connect it's SBUS port to RUD input of spirit with normal 1 to 1 Servo cable. Spirit powers up and start initialisation succesfully. But during the configuration I see no signal-reaction from my transmitter. What is wrong? normal PWM connections seems to be working. Thanks for help. Regards Guenter |

Hi Guenter, is it Spirit or Spirit Pro unit? If it is Spirit then you will need the S-BUS Adapter cable - please see manual (Wiring section). Spirit Pro and uSpirit will work with normal cable. |

Hi ZeXx86, it's a spirit unit. I tested these S-BUS Adapter cable as well, no signals were detected. Did I need a special firmware in my receiver? BR Guenter |

No, nothing special is needed. Only the cable must be connected correctly and Futaba S-BUS receiver type must be selected. Please check this: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... US_Adapter |

I just tried a X8R receiver. same happens. If I connect ESC to receiver and use these S-Bus adapter, during the setup get a message "device not found" ... |

Are you sure that direction of the S-BUS adapter cable is correct? It is very important to connect shorter and longer lead according the scheme. Then you have to set Futaba S-BUS in the Spirit Settings and save the settings. After next power up, all should work. Where you can see "Device not found"? You can take a photo of the wiring, then it will be easy to help you. |

Thank you. This does not look good. In the receiver connection is probably not correct. The SBUS cable must be connected in the SBUS port. For some reason SBUS adapter cable is connected perpendicular in the receiver. Maybe it is some different version? UPDATE: Yes, probably it is a different version. Were you ever able to connect to the unit through the software? If no, then I think that the problem will be rather in the USB interface driver. But this is not dependent on the receiver connection at all. So if it worked with PWM, it should work with SBUS too. If it worked with PWM, then you can do this: Connect BEC cable to the unit directly (for example at AUX port). Then start the software and do not enter setup wizard. Then in the General tab, you can simply change receiver type to Futaba SBUS. Save the settings (by CTRL+S or in the Backup tab). Then reconnect the cables back as it is now and I think it will work. Probably it does not work now because receiver is sending wrong data to the unit while it is still configured to PWM. |

SBUS is correctly connected, othewice the spirits gets no power. In this picture I tried an X8R receiver, Sbus connector is different to X6R |

Ah, sorry. Details are unfortunately not visible. It should be enough to not start the transmitter. Then you can power up the unit and then set the receiver type. After changing the receiver you can power up also the transmitter and all should work. |
