I'm a little confused about the cyclic ring setting. If do as the manual state and set it for
max without binding and then set the 6 deg geometry. How do I set my flying cyclic ?
I only want 8 Deg of cyclic pitch.

Hello,

these both settings are very different things.
First you should set Geometry 6° - same as you do in the Setup wizard.
Then you should set Limits.

Geometry 6° is not to set any limit, but to find optimal value for head geometry of your helicopter.

You can use 8° for cyclic ring if you want. Cyclic Ring will limit deflection of the servos/cyclic, so by this you will set cyclic pitch.
Note, that this does not directly affect how fast helicopter is doing flips/rolls.
You can set theoretically even 20° cylic pitch, but it can still rotate very slow. How fast it will do the flips/rolls is determined by Rotation speed in the Sensor tab. By default it is preconfigured for slow.

Cyclic Ring is for telling the unit how the model can deflect the servos so when it will need, it can use this range. But it does not mean automatically it will use all the range always. Only when needed to achieve desired position.

So with low cyclic ring you can make rotation speed 16 but still slow flips? And vise versa high cyclic ring and low rotation speed will make slow flips.

No,

low cyclic ring mean always decreased possibility to do a fast rotations (flips).
Lower angle = lower rotations.

In any way I highly do not recommend to set higher Rotation rate than you really need. This will result in imprecise steering and odd behavior.
The highest value that 3D pilots can utilize is usually 13 while Cyclic Ring angle is configured quite high (+/- 12-14°)
