Post subject: | Stability causes backward drift |
I finally got my Spirit setup correctly to enable Stability mode. I tested both Normal and Acro today. I setup my TX to allow toggling Stability on/off. I noticed a backward and slightly left drift when hovering tail in. With Stability off I could setup a nearly hands-free hover where no drifting was apparent. Toggle stability on and the heli immediately starts moving backwards and to the left. I double checked by CG and it was fine. I performed this in both Normal and Acro stability modes. Directional control rates were in the 2-4 range during these tests. Does this drifting show a swash level issue that somehow manifests itself only in Stab mode? Any thoughts are welcome. |

Hello, when this mode is active, it expect that your swashplate in respect to your model is configured precisely using swashplate leveler. So it immediately put horizontal deflection + corrections. But if the deflection is out of center, it will first drift and you have to give some corrections by the sticks first to stop the drift. But the correct solution is to set the swashplate as precise as possible. The easiest way to verify is to: 1. Enable Servos/Subtrim (tuning) 2. Put Swashplate Leveler on the main shaft and check if all servo arms are at the center and at the same time the swashplate is perfectly horizontal. |
