Hi, using telemetry I am getting in trouble with the amount of channels. My setup is a scale heli with Futaba TX. Before I used a Frsky TFR8SB and had the S.BUS plus 8 channels. Channel 8 was used for the lights. Bankswitching was done via channel 7. Now, with a Futaba R7008SB I lost channel 8, because I need this port as my S.BUS-port, the S.BUS2 is used for telemetry. To be able to switch the lights, I now use channel 7, because port 8 is used for S.BUS. Bankswitching is only capable up to channel 7. Any ideas how I could solve this problem without falling back to using channel 5 and configuring gyro value in the spirit? Thanks in advance, Alexander |

Hi, you can check Futaba Telemetry guide and use just S-Bus2 for both connection and telemetry. So channel 8 will be free. Alternatively you can change receiver mode to map another set of channels - see receiver manual. |

Hi, thank you! Sometimes you do not to see the wood for the trees... So I changed the receiver mode to map channels 9-15 plus S.BUS. Works as expected. Regarding your other suggestion, as far as I understand, there should be a separate bus for connection and one for telemetry. That I would mean I need 2 S.BUS2 ports, but the R7008SB offers 1 fixed S.BUS2 port and one S.BUS on port 8 depending of the mode it is set to. I could not find any more information... Best regards, Alexander |

Hi, you are welcome! Here you can find all necessary info: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... _Telemetry Only one connection is needed even for Futaba telemetry (SBUS2). The only problem there is powering the receiver. Power for receiver and unit must be shared by another cable. But this cable can be connected anywhere in the receiver. |

Hi, yes I have seen this, but thought this is for ESCs connected to the Spirit. Can I use this for external sensors, such as Futaba F1678 as well? That would mean I have to connect it the Spirit with the RX and the sensor via a hub or Y-cable? Best regards, Alexander |

Hi, yes, you can do so with hub. Unfortunately I can't be sure about compatibility. But if there will be any problem, we will solve it. |

Post subject: | Re: Bank switching -> now Telemetry S.Bus2 |
Hi, I could nor wait until the weekend... I tried connecting the Spirit, a Futaba sensor F1678 and a R7008SB to a common S.Bus2. The connection cable from the S.Bus2 is done with the FrSky-Cable with the needed modification. If all the 3 devices are connected to a bus, I do not see any values from the F1678, but the connection between the Spirit and the RX works as expected. As soon as I disconnect the FrSky cable from the bus, I can of course not control the heli, but I immediately get the values form the F1678. So I am sorry to say it does not work this way... Best regards, Alexander |
