Post subject: | Jive 80+HV telemetry |
Have a Jive 80+HV back in my TDR and I have telemetry working but I am getting too low rpm readings. I have experimented with the gear ratio settings in an attempt to get ball park values and ended up with a setting of 4,75. I am running a Pyro 30-12 510kv (10poles) and a 14T pinion. The 2 stage drive on the TDR equates to a 160.65 tooth main (according to Mr.Mels calc!). 11.75 gave really low rpm values. At gear ratio set to 4.75 I get approximate rpm at 60% throttle (ca1400rpm) but when switching thru 70% and 80% settings the displayed rpm does not seem to match the actual rpm. I get a small increase between 60 and 70 and a smaller increase jumping from 70 to 80%. The audible increase in rpm sounds way greater than the change I see on the tx. I had a Kosmik in the heli just prior and all the telemetry was spot on, rpm and all. Did not need to set anything in the software. I wonder what I am doing wrong! The Jive is set up in mode 1 and then 4 before setting up. |

I realise I made a mistake with expected displayed values. I should be in the region of 1600 rpm at 60% throttle on the Jive gov. So my readings now are too low. But gear ratio set to 11.7 I was getting around 700 rpm. It is too late to make noise now but maybe 11.7/2 is the answer? |

Tried using half the gear ratio. No luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Are you setting the values in the spirit unit or tx? |

It is very strange. Maybe you can try it with blades on. Do you see that RPM is linear from the beginning? So that it starts at 0 and is going to desired RPM? |

That´s a common problem of the Jive ESC´s. It´s probably the way how the Jive commutates. I have a similar problem with my Jive 120. With 1200 rpm I get around 1500 rpm displayed and the value is jumping too. With 1500 rpm on the head I get the correct value. What RPM sensor are you using? |

Have done a little reading up on the old Jive. I have been running a Kosmik in the TDR for the past two years and have not owned a Jive for a good few years. I forgot that I should set the Jive up for max desired rpm at about 65% throttle as opposed to 80% throttle on the Kosmik. That explains why the rise in rpm was rather smaller than expected when I was setting up, without blades besides. I still dont get why the rpm reading I am getting are so low. I started with default values, all in the Spirit software. Sensing at 5 for the Pyro 30-12 and ratio 11.47. I will revert to these settings again and note what readings I get. |
