Post subject:  Stabilization collective pitch SOLVED

I was flying my Trex 450L with red standard Spirit and noticed the range of collective pitch is significantly reduced when (normal) stabilization mode is engaged. Also, I have rescue set to 100% but the positive blade pitch is much less than that when rescue is engaged.

Pitch travel in TX is plus and minus 100 and is also indicated plus and minus 100 on the diagnostic tab of the software. I first noticed this and was still on V 2.4.1. Upgraded to V 2.4.3 and it is still the same. I also noticed the same behavior on my Trex 250 Pro DFC which has the Micro Spirit but to a lesser degree. Sticks Priority and Direction Control Rate are set to default. I changed them around to see what would happen but that didn't change the pitch range of travel during stabilization or rescue.

Hello,

if you are using Banks, then it is very possible that you have a different Collective Pitch Range configured between them.

Please compare with Bank Comparison feature in the Backup tab. Then you will see what is different.
Otherwise it should work perfectly normal.

You should see also difference on the bench with the current settings, am I right?

Thank you Tomas,

You were absolutely right. I thought pitch range on the "limits" tab was a global setting. I've been flying Spirit gyros for years now with whatever default setting is in the pitch range setting for banks 1 and 2. I always setup in bank 0 and then just make the changes on the "stabi" tab. It's amazing it worked as good as it did.

And to answer your question. Yes; I did notice the pitch range differences on the bench but I first noticed it while flying when I had left the switch in bank 1 "normal stabilization" without knowing it. I almost couldn't hold altitude because the pitch range was about 62 instead of 118. Scared the crap out of me I didn't know what was happening! The only time I usually use normal stabilization mode is just to test it out or when I need to swat bugs!
