Post subject:  Oxy 2 and µSpirit cyclic gain seems to have no effect

Hi,

I'm using an Oxy 2 with the µSpirit.

Swashplate servos are from Lynx and working at 200Hz.

I'm using a Jeti DS 16 and I have the cyclic gain on a prop. channel. Checking the channel in the
Spirit setup software verified that the prop. channel is changing the cyclic gain between 30% and 90%.

The Heli is flying good but I'm wondering, that I can change the cyclic gain from 30% to 90%
and the flight characteristics seems nearly unaffected. I have tested with firmware 2.42 and 2.43.

Is this normal or is there something wrong ?

Best regards,
Dirk

Hi,

if you are using also Jeti integration and you will enter the menu, then the realtime tuning is temporarily disabled.
So it will be using Cyclic Gain that you will configure through the Jeti integration.
Maybe this is the problem.

If there is some problem with flight characteristics, make sure that all linkages are perfectly smooth (there is no friction).
This is common problem with Oxy kits - you need to modify all push rods to move smoothly. Otherwise flight performance on cyclic and especially rudder will be poor and probably no settings will help.

Hi,

yes, Jeti integration is used but I'm not entering the menu during realtime tuning.

During the flight I change the cyclic gain from 30% to 90% by using the configured prop. channel
but the flight characteristics seems nearly unaffected.

All linkages are perfectly smooth, I have used a reamer.

Basically the flight characteristics are ok, but I'm wondering about that behavior.

If you are unsure then please et the Cyclic Gain directly through the Jeti integration and compare the result.
On some helicopters the difference is not too visible - if they are not susceptible for oscillations.
Also Spirit units have adaptive tuning so even if the gain is too high, it has algorithms to prevent such oscillations.

It could be also affected by correct Geometry 6° value settings.
When changing Flight Style, then with some values Cyclic Gain can be more visible.

Generally even with the lowest cyclic gain Spirit will be always stable and well controllable. Optimal configuration is usually 60 -
65%.

Thanks for the infos.

Because of interest, next time I'll use the Jeti integration to check different cyclic gains.
