Post subject: | Spirit Pro Not holding tail |
I have a new Gaui X5 V2 build with a Spirit Pro. I am having issues with the tail holding under high torque conditions, such a full power climb out, or repeated flips. On a full power climb out the tail will let go and go into a slow pirouette. On other more complex moves the results are more dramatic. The helli is basically not flyable in even the most basic 3d maneuvers. This is my first Spirit Pro, but I have been flying hellis since the early 90s. Here are the particulars: Gaui X5 V2 Scorpion HKIII 4025-890 KV Scorpion Tribunus 120A esc Standard Gaui kit servos Spirit Pri FBL Switch Blade Main and Tail blades Gyro Gain (as set in Xmitter 90%) (Diagnostic display confirms this value as well as HH mode) Spirit Pro Settings: Pitch range: 255 Cyclic Ring: 169 Rudder end points: 72, 169 Cyclic Gain:55% Rudder Common Gain 1.20x Rotational speed, cyclic: 8, Rudder: 8 Stabi, Rescue (Normal) Rescue collective pitch: 60% Rudder delay:0 Rudder dynamic: 6 Rudder - Revomix: 0 Pirouette consistency: 185 Since this is my first Spirit FBL, I may be missing something. Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance, John Jackson |

What is your collective pitch in degrees? Did you set tail end point correctly? What is sour tail servo? Whatis your headspeed? |

Hello, collective pitch range seems to be very very high, basically maximum. Are you sure that the pitch range is not too high? Usually it should be around +/-12°. Have a nice day! |

My X5s with a 4025 have been able to easily pull +- 14 degrees with no sag, running the scorpion governors. Head speed in Idle up is 2800. |

Thank you. First from all I recommend to check the rudder mechanical center. Because of end-points are so unequal I guess that the problem will be in this. So the precedure will be: 1) Enable Servo/Subtrim (tuning) menu. 2) Check if the servo arm is at the center position (as close as possible). 3) If not, adjust the CH4 Subtrim value in the software. 4) Verify where is the tail slider and what is the angle between the tail blades. 5) Angle should be approx 3-4° so that the slider is usually slightly closer to the boom. 6) Re-adjust rudder end-points. In any case if you are really running so collective pitch angle it can be a big problem as with some main/tail blades it may be impossible quest. So until you are not Hard 3D flyer such as Tareq and not running also very high RPM, I recommend to set something usual such as +/-12°. This will make it easier to set it well and also decrease current peaks a lot. |
