Post subject: | Spirit Telemetry no current and capacity |
Hi, today I've tried to setup Spirit telemetry on my Hobbywing 160Hv. RPM works because of the RPM Cable, but current shows about 7A in the first second after starting and than it stays at zero ampere. Therefore used capacity goes to 1 mah after start but it remains at 1 the whole time. Voltage and temperature are displayed right i believe but voltage without current isn't that useful i'd say On the Data Port of the ESC i use a Y-Cable so i can use the fan and telemetry at once, the fan works and telemetry at least partly, so i don't think that the Y-Cable is the problem... Has anybody an idea what i could do to fix this problem? I use a Jeti telem UNI cable and although it shows Voltage and Capacity my logs in the Jeti are completely empty. ESC, REX3, Spirit, DS-16 are all on the latest firmware. |

Hi, do you use the latest 2.4.1 version? If no, please update the firmware. |

Hi, as I already said, everything is on the newest firmware. |

Great. Are you trying it already in the flight? Or you are trying it without a blades? If there are no blades, then current measurement will not work without load. So low current values are unfortunately not reported by the ESC. Capacity is calculated from the Current, so it is reason why both are not working. |

I have tried it with blades and without, its always the same. ESC Temperature shows 8,7°C than i turn it off, turn it on again ESC Temperature shows about 12°C so i think this isnt accurate, too. I tried it without the Y Cable,too... Just the telemetry cable in the ESC, without fan. Doesnt work, too... I have no idea what i should try next but to me it seems just like this telemetry-cable is faulty, it don't know... It shows Temperature, Voltage and RPM as i said, but how can it be that the logs in my jeti are 0,1KB so actually completely empty? In Jeti Logging is Yes for all values. |

If it was not in the real flight, please try it. Unless there is no higher load, it will not show anything usefull. During flying load is fine for the ESC and the current sensor. |

I flew one normal flight today. During hovering it shows 0 ampere current, pitch pumps are about 60-80 ampere. So i doesnt count during normal hovering, i flew 4 min and telemetry showed 111 mah and thats impossible. It seems like everything under 40 ampere or whatever is normal during hovering with a diabolo 700 and 14s doesnt count for spirit due to that the calculation is completely wrong... |

This is really wrong. Can I ask you to verify firmware version of the ESC? I know you have mentioned it is the latest. It should be at PL-04.0.06. Also to be absolutely sure that you have 2.4.1 version that we have, can you verify the checksum of the firmware file, please? You can do so in this way: 1. Go to this page: http://onlinemd5.com 2. Select file of the 2.4.1 firmware you have downloaded. 3. Compare MD5 checksum with this: 12A7ED04C28D988AAF00D21ABAF72E51 |

Just as an idea on top, there might be a ground loop issue. As only Data wire is relevant and to get easy cabling, I did took out the data pin and only inserted it into the same plug as the fan. Solid ground is provided by Throttle wire and additional Power wire, so no need for additional ground. If you wanna test with Y-Plug, just take out Ground Pin coming from Spirit SAT port. You might give it a try as well. Just did the maiden today with HW1600 on 600er and it works fantastic. |

But i tried it without the Y Cable and only inserted the Spirit wire to the Dataport. So this would have solved the problem aswell, right? HW is 04.0.06 and MD5 is also ok. |
