I have just purchased a Spirit FBL unit for use with a Compass Warp 360.
As a virtual beginner, I will want to use the Spirit rescue function for sure.
Just wondering if a Spektrum DX6, with its 6 channels, is enough or is a higher channel count required?
Good advice appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
6 channels are enough. The easiest thing is to set for example 60% and -60% Gyro Gains and then set Stabi/Function to Rescue. From this moment you will be able to engage the rescue mode with Gyro Gain switch anytime.

Thanks ZeXx86.
I like the idea of going with the DX6. But I still wonder if the DX6 might be a limiting compromise.
The "Setup Guide" available on this forum nominates "DX8 or compatible" - this makes me wonder if the DX8 is not the better longer term proposition.
What could the Spirit unit do with 8 channels (i.e. DX8) that it could not do with 6 channels (i.e. the DX6)?
Just for future interests sake, what would be the highest channel count that the Spirit Pro would need to make full use of its capabilities?
Thanks.

Well, according to me... 6 channels for flying... up to 3 for using 3 Realtime tuning in parallel... 1 for banks switching... you'll never be able to use more than 10 inside Spirit.
But that's not what should drive you.
Focus more on the radio programming capabilities.

Spektrum radios are good because of easy and strightforward usage. But some features and capabilities are missing even in the most expensive models that you can find in very cheap radios from other brands and can be usefull. If you want radio with the most possibilities for the similar price as Spektrum DX6, but capabilities of the top radios, go for FrSky Taranis Q X7 which is 16ch. This will also offer full integration with the unit, telemetry and more.
On the other hand if you are beginner it might be hard to set it up for you as there are so many features.
So it depends on what you are expecting. There are many options and each has pros and cons.

Thanks for the replies.
So going with the DX6, I can see that the AR610 6-Channel DSMX Rx would be a good match.
But if I went with a DX8, what Rx would be recommended? The AR8010T or other?

AR8010T if you want telemetry AR7700 if you want SRXL cleaner wiring only one cable from receiver to Spirit Pro. I just switched from AR8000 to AR7700.
