Im building a new Heli a Nitro Goblin with the OS-105HZ, the gov sensor is quite confusing for me since is a new build i have some basic question before i purchase the sensor. Whats the best sensor result for the Spirit Gov. 1.- Magnet sensor on the Fan OR Spektrum Backplates RPM Sensor. 2.- how should i wire them and were its connected in the FBL.
A) If Magnet is the best option, should bot magnets face same way or opposite. B) If Backplate is the best option, how should i configure on the gov menu.
Best Regards.

Hello,
I recommend using a hall-type sensor such as Align RPM sensor. But other will work too. In case of Align, make sure you will connect it properly (colors are not matching with any standard). But in our manual, you can find description and photo, how to connect it to the unit exactly. It is in the governor section.
Regarding magnets, I recommend 2 positively oriented magnets on the fan.

It should work as well. Important is just that the reading is clear and stable. This can be verified later, with started motor.

Sensing Divider should be configured so that it represent count of active magnets. In case of Backplate it is 1.

I use a spektrum backplate sensor and it works ok. You will have to play with the position/distance from the backplate and make sure you find just the right distance because it's picky. There needs to be about a 0.2mm gap between the sensor and backplate.
Before I got the position right I had the spirit governor cut out in flight while I was inverted and I barely had enough power to keep it in the air. Added a few shims to lift the sensor off the backplate more and it was all good from there.
