Ok I just started flying helis and have a bunch of bind and flys i.e. Nano Cps, blade 200cfx a blade 300cfx and recently purchased a Gaui x3.

The Gaui I purchased bind and fly used with a beast X. Not flying anymore as its too touchy for my learning curve.

Now enters the Blade 300cfx which I yanked off the beast and purchased a spirit regular for. I being inexperienced wanted a bail out and essentially a fbl to keep me in check and in the long run cost me less in fixes lol.

Now I have ran through the the computer setup and believe that I have the heli properly set up but hey I am a newbie. Further I have to say I purchased a ikon for my Gaui x3.

I have found that the videos for the ikon are amazing and would like to see a video set for the spirit as someone walks through the actual setup including the radio start to finish. Yes I watched jay mans which were ok but lacking what I needed. It was a more advanced kind of video and found myself turning to the ikon series videos for help.

That being said my confusion is not with the radio which I am using a Spektrum DX18 Stealth. The heli is using a lemon dsmx satellite and nothing else.

My interest is to have a similar setup to Blade and Ikon where I can tame the helicopter in the three modes. Each of the modes having bailout and each of the modes with stabilization. I like the way the ikon system has set it up where I can just click beginner and away I go. The blade limited the pitch angles to a certain percentage.

Being that I am a rookie and some knowledge of the radio I am a plane flyer and am experienced at that understand it somewhat. But these are more complicated lol.

I am having a hard time grasping the how to of the bailout and stability feature and integrating it into the radio. Especially both at the same time. In the software I see I can only select one or the other.

The other question I had was the gyro setting in the video I see mention of it being set to the aleron and somewhere else to the actual switch. I have showered the net and forums to try and understand what this does and what it is used for.

If anyone has a blade 300 with a spirit help me out uploading their setup? I'm trying to branch out and learn here and local help for me is lacking.

Just a little elaboration

My flight mode 0

Throttle curve is linear 0-25-50-75-100

Pitch curve the same

My flight mode 1

Throttle curve Is 75% across

Pitch curve linear

My flight mode 2

Throttle curve is 90% across

Pitch curve linear

My goal is to have FM 0 and 1 stability and bailout

FM 2 is to have bailout.

This is where things get complicated for me:

Go to Function List → Gyro
Configure Sw to F Mode. Then set the Gyro Gain for each Flight mode.
By changing Gyro Gains we can perform bank switching in this method.
So it can look like:
• Normal: -100% • Stunt 1: -100% • Stunt 2: 0%
• Hold: 100%
(Bank 0) (Bank 0) (Bank 1) (Bank 2)

Then in the Sensor tab, you can configure Rudder Gain for each bank separately.
So it can look like: • Bank 0: 60% • Bank 1: 60% • Bank 2: -60%

You are almost there!

I would only change the Gyro value for Hold in your DX8 to 0, so that when you are in Hold, it's in Bank 1 so stabilization is not active and you can better perform your pre-flight checks.

Another thing: in the Spirit, Rudder Gain for Bank 0 should be negative (so -60%) for Stabilization mode to be always active.

What you miss now is just the setup of the DX8 to activate Rescue.
The idea is to have a button or a switch that sends you to Bank 2, by outputting something around 100 or more to the Gyro channel.
In the DX8, the best way is to have a mix adding 200 to the Gyro channel (a mix like 0 100 100), I can be more specific if you need.

More specific is better

So on any bank with stability the tail gyro needs the negative number constant?

Where I am confused is if that is the case how is the rescue being activated? If the number is already negative....

I will wrap my head around it....

Next question with a blade product am I needing to flip the blade grips to allow for leading edge vs trailing edge?

If a Stabi Function is defined, negative Gyro Gain will activate it. This is shown as HF in the Diagnostic tab.

So if you have Gain defined in Spirit, as it fits to your desired setup, Bank 0 will be permanently in Stabilization and Bank 2 will be permanently in Rescue.

So you will use your TX Flight Mode switch to switch between Bank 0 (stabilized flight, in Normal and Stunt 1) and Bank 1 (non-stabilized flight, in Stunt 2) as you need.

And you will use another TX switch (the Rescue switch) to temporarily switch to Bank 2 (rescue) when you are in shit, and release it when you are ready to take control again (which will bring you to the previous Bank you were in).

I will post pictures of the needed mix later when I can.

So this should work. I did not test on the Spirit but looks fine in the DX8 Monitor.
Please check very carefully in Spirit Diagnostic that it gives you the desired result.

1) go to Switch Select and assign AX2 to your Rescue switch (I suggest you use the Bind button, physically relocating it to the side, as you can see in HF, but any switch - possibly 2 positions - should work)

2) go to Mixing, scroll to Mix 1 and change it like this:

3) Test in DX8 Monitor. If you did setup the F-modes like you said, your Gyro channel should show -100 when you are in Normal and IU1, and 0 when you are in IU2 or in Hold. While the Rescue switch is pressed, should show +100 when you are in Normal and IU1, and +150 when you are in IU2 or in Hold (this will work same as +100, no worries, it will select Bank 2)

Okie I am getting there sorry real life getting in the way of tinkering lol.

In the spirit pre configuration setup are blades not included because of the trailing edge control?

To run this on a blade in my case 300cfx am I going to have to flip the blade grips to make it like the 90% of the rest of the helicopters made and make it leading edge control?

In other words if I do not is the spirit going to get confused that the collective goes down to make the helicopter go up?

I think that with V2.0.1 firmware the Collective Direction / Reversed option is checked on the Advanced tab for trailing edge control.

Exactly, there is a specific option for trailing edge control (or mixing arms).
Works as a charm.

In the wizzard its pretty clear. In the menu however I find it at a very unlogical place.

I expect it in the limits menu by the collective pitch.
