So bought a BK 5005HV servo for my 450L tail. I've re-setup spirit with it and have noticed that it can take much higher gains without wagging compared to the stock align servo.

I'm currently running 175 piro consistency but getting a sight tail kick on pitch pumps and was wondering what are the recommended ballpark settings for this servo?

Running at 6V with rated speed of 0.04sec/60 degrees and in the inner servo horn hole slowing for close to 100 and a bit over in travel

What I gain, rudder delay should I be aiming for?

Rudder delay should be set at between 0-5 for really fast servos like the bks. 175 seems a bit high for a 450 so I would reset and try 160 or 165. First start by raising your tail gain until you get wagging in fast pitch changes or fff. Then back it off a few points. Then if the tail is still not as solid or you still get tail kicks then you can try raising your piro consistancy. Start at 155 (default) and work your way up but I dont think you should need more than 160-165. If you start to notice wagging again after you raised your piro consistancy and got it proforming well then you may need to drop you tail gain a lil more.

I also recommend to lower the value of Pirouette Consistency.
If the value is too high, you can get tail oscillations in the fast forward flight or during demanding manouvers. But decraesing Gyro Gain is not correct solution in this case.
Too high values results in too agressive rudder behavior overall.

If you don't find anything else, you still have Rudder Revomix or good old tail precomp in the radio...

Tail precompensation in the transmitters shouldn't be used in any case. This will cause only issues with usage of head lock gyros.

Revomix for your servo shouldn't be needed in any case. It might be good for stock servo, but this one is much better.

Thanks all I'll try to get the heli in the field on Saturday and have a few tests with it!

So went to the field today- latest good settings with reduced but not totally gone tail kick are:
Gyro gain: 67% - scared to try higher - no wag at all at that rate
Piro consistency: 170
Governor response : 6

Problem is the kick almost went away when reducing the governor response but then my RPM were dropping when doing a pitch pump. Thoughts?

Great,

For Spirit the gain is quite normal and with some helicopters it is not a problem to achieve 100%.
If you do not see any oscillations - especially in the fast forward flight, you do not have to be afraid.

You have to increase the gain to the highest value (without oscillations) else you will never get the best performance.

On my G500 I had gain 94 with common gain 1.1 which should equate to >103 (DX8). If I recall correctly the reading on Diagnostic was 82, so some >90, but still, pretty high.
