Post subject:  Error when going to different areas of setup

Hi all I am getting an error popping up when trying to program my Spirit Pro!
This is what pops up: Once this happens the swash jumps around and my Spirit blinks on and off....It happens when I go into any area to adjust swash, pitch, servo centering etc...

You don't say if it ever worked or you just installed it...

Make sure you DO install the drivers that come with the software (IIRC you are asked if you want them or not).

Hi,

it look like you are powering the unit with some power that is not too good. It can't probably handle your servos.
Maybe just wiring is not OK.

If you can tell us more details (what ESC, BEC, servos, firmware, software are you using), I will be able to tell you more.

This is the same unit that wouldn't bind, and lost its serial number.
After a program was sent to me to fix the issue of losing the serial number in the unit, I only had time to bind the sat, and do a partial setup. I saved that it all seemed to be working correctly. Then I got around to trying to do the setup again last night, and that's when it started acting up again giving the error massage.
It does it when I move to the next step in the wizard. The odd thing is it seems to save the initial setup I did last week (servo type, reciever type) but loses my setup of swash leveling servo arms pitch and that sort.
I've even moved back with the back tab to the previous setting redid my settings, it sets up, but as soon as I move to the next step, unit flashes, servo's jump around and settings are lost again. The heli is an Align 500 Pro DFC, stock motor servo's stock DS515 cyclic, tail Ds525, Castle ice 75A ESC.

Hello,

can you by chance try to start the BEC tester?
It looks like something is very wrong there and may cause all mentioned troubles.

Can you take a photo of your wiring please?

Unfortunately DS5X5M servos are very, very demanding. Even very quality BECs may not handle their current spikes.

By picture of wiring, do you mean how unit is wired? Or do you mean whole wiring throughout the heli?
What type servo's do you reccomend? Here is wiring as I have aleron ch1 ele ch2 pitch ch3. Also the connector from Castle ESC is pictured.
I will do BEC test tonight, have to go to work now. I might mention I did get through wizard finally to set up, but on servo movement of pitch up and down servo's act odd on pitch up and down, servo's freeze momentarally, then jump around after a second, then rest. Also would like to mention, the first time I set this up, I had no issue as I have now with this unit, only after doing a reset did I run into issues, of binding that were solved by Spirit tech sending a file to fix and get my unit to show the serial number again.

Oh,
your wiring photos are looking well.
But if a BEC test failed, then it is not good at all.
What you can do is to disconnect one servo and perform a BEC test again.
If this will not help, disconnect next one and try it again.
So at a certain point you should get success.

We will know how it is bad. Theoretically adding capacitor may solve the problem, but it will be still on the edge.

I believe that your BEC is OK, but it is not capable of delivering required power in a demanding situations. So very fast servo movement can cause total loss of control or unexpected behavior as you can see.

Ok will run test as you said see which one is bad

Your servos might be all OK, just the combination of these servos and your ESC/BEC may be not proper.
These servos are very demanding, so that even some very expensive ESCs are not enough and with any faster movement everything is resetted.
On the other hand some servos with even better parameters may work well with your ESC.
So very probably, everything is working "as it should" but together it is'nt.

But as I said previously, with some very cheap trick it can work well and reliably.
