Post subject:  [solved] Rudder end-points with different stabi modes

Hi,

I am just helpless watching the rudder end-points with different stabilisation modes.
My Spirit is the red one , FW 2.0, the heli is a T-Rex 500.
The left and right limits were set correct.
Using the stabilisation modes "disabled" and "stabilisation (Scale)" the slider does not reach the configured end-points (about 2mm missing).
In all other modes the end-points are reached.

Any hints?

Regards,
Alexander

Hi,

this is because Rudder is not in Head Lock mode anymore. It is in the Normal (Rate) mode - you can find it in the manual.
So the gyro is not holding position but it is returning back to the center position.

So both end-points are still the same. By increasing gyro gain you will see a bigger travel.
So everything is correct.

Do you want to fly with Normal mode? For beginners it is not too easy and needs carefull configuration.

Hi,

OK, I found the section in the manual...
Hm... Shouldn't I be able to reach end-points regardless if I use Normal or Head Lock mode controlling rudder by transmitter?

I just checked again and found that when in the transmitter Gyro "normal" is configured I can control rudder to the configured end-points, even in the "disabled" and "Stabilisation (Scale)" stabi function.
If I configure the transmitter to AVCS, I can not reach the end-point of rudder with the mentioned stabi functions. In both cases the gyro operates in "normal"-mode.

Does that mean, I can not use Head Lock with "disabled" stabi function, which is my normally used mode?

Alexander

Hi,

you can use Head Lock with Function: Disabled too (if Gyro Gain is positive). With Futaba it is AVCS mode 0 - 100% for normal flying. NORM 0 - 100% should activate Normal (Rate) mode or any other selected Function.

In your case, there is only wrong value in the transmitter - you can check it in the Diagnostic tab.

The reason why you can see such difference is, that gyro gain that is transmitted to the unit is too low.

With negative gyro gain selected Function is always activated, but value of the gyro should be still configured correctly for your helicopter.
Mostly it is same.

In the Diagnostic tab you will see percentage of the Gyro Gain - this is important.

Hi,

that was it!
...and this was not my first Spirit that I configured...
Now everything works as expected.

Thanks a lot for pointing to what I have been overlooking again and again...

Best regards,
Alexander
