So ive only had this happen twice. Once on the bench and the other right before a flight. Tomas mentioned something about adding a cap to help resolve this. Im using two dsmx sats on my g380 w hw 100a v3. Ive got a cap but where do I plug it in to? I plugged it into the ali/ele/rud port... will this work?

For sure not, very dangerous indeed, manual explicitly says not to give power through that port (nor SYS) and that's what a capacitor does in a few words.

Ok, I hooked up a Y cable to the ele port and ran the spektrum cap to the other side of the Y. And the second time after I powered it up the servos went buzzing and freaking out again. Ideas?

Can you verify what do you see in the Diagnostic tab during this issue? You can also disconnect servos so they can't be damaged in any way. Are they over preconfigured limits or are they exactly at the end points?

Capacitor should be plugged as close as possible to the BEC. What is capacitance of the capacitor? I recommend at least 2200uF. 4700uF might be great.

And also what servos do you use?

I havent been able to. As soon as it starts I unplug the flight battery to prevent any damage. The cap I have on there right now is hooked up through a Y cable off port 2. Its this cap.

Then maybe plug the USB cable AND disconnect the servos before trying to reproduce.

The one you posted is a google search, it will most probably bring different results depending where it is run.

Its the spektrum voltage protector.

Coco, its only done it at most 3 times out of the two dozen or so times that ive powered up the heli. Ive added a cap, the one I posted, so trying to reproduce it is a bit hard as im sure you can imagine. So far, w the cap, I havent seen it happen again. I think the one time I did see it happen after the cap was added I believe I didnt have it hooked up correctly so since I connected it the right way I havent had it happen again. So as of now, im thinking its fixed but ill give it some time to be sure. The 5 flights I got at the field yesterday felt very good and didnt notice one issue in flight. Love the spirit!

Could a small bind cause a spike in the bec then cause all the servos to do this? I had it happen yesterday before a flight after I powered it up on my g380 and the tail was binding. I had to loosen part of the pitch arm (the screw side not the ball link side) to free it up. So seeing this I thought that a small bind on initalization could be causing a spike in my bec thus causing the spirit to throw the servos to their extremes? Guess the only real way to know is to keep an eye on it. I loosened up both screws on the tail slider pitch arms to see if this changes anytg ing.

I remember to had such also with some best price Servos on other FBL. The cause was not the FBL but the Servos. There two CAPs helped to solve. I did install the CAPs right at the Servos Plug with Y cable, as this was the place of source for positive as well as negative spikes from Servos. In 5V System, I had peaks down to 3 up to 9Volt. This peaks caused the Digital Servos (Processor inside) to go crazy or to not initialize...Caps solved problem bringing peaks in range 4..6 Volt.
On Top, if you got a bind, this is drawing extra power from BEC. Think of your Wiring as well. Example: Servo AWG26 0.138Ohm/m BEC to Servos and Back you got up to 1m eq. 200mOhm Multiplied by 3A = 0.6V lost on wiring.

Have you done a BEC Testing (Diagnostic Tab in GUI)?
