Hi everyone my name is Trevor and I am having troubles with my spirit.
I set up raptor 550 with the spirit wizard and everything worked fine on the bench, when I tried to fly I had problems. As i spooled up all was good then when I went to lift off the heli tipped to the left side and blades hit the ground and broke both blades and bent the boom. I repaired the damage and reset everything but when I restarted the spirit up i get the elevator raises and the startup process binds but nothing happens, no stick movement at all.
I tried to connect to program and the program will not connect. I tried to use recovery mode and when it asks for a file to open there is no file to open. I re-downloaded firmware to 3.2.1 and there is no file name except a 4df file but when i try to open nothing happens.
I have tried this five timers and nothing happens.
I have downloaded to windows vista ( I know its old but worked fine on first set up).
I know its something simple but I have not enough knowledge about computers, I am 65 years old, can someone please help me.

Hello,

please make sure you are starting the Spirit Settings software only after unit is fully initialized. This will happen after few seconds from power up, once you will see pitch pump.

Lastly make sure that interface is connected really at the SYS port.
No need to update anything if it worked properly.

Can you verify that the Status LED of the unit is solid after initialization?

Hi I have tried to initialize the unit, as soon as the unit is switched on the elevator servo lifts up above centre and stays there and then the unit initializes, the unit binds as per usual but there is no servo movement at all. I get the pitch pump and then nothing. When I tried to start in rescue mode the unit does not connect to the software, I went to update and get a message to pick a file (few-3-2-1. 4df) i think that’s right, when I look in the drop down folder there is nothing there. I went to download page to download file and it loads fine and when I go back to computer i is not there, I manually put in file name and it says that there is no program to open that file.
The Led light is on after startup, but I think it blinks every couple of seconds, not fast very slow.
The interface is connected to sys port.
Everything worked the first time around but this time elevator moves first then it binds and then nothing.

Hi,

I think the problem developed recently and it must be fixed first.
The unit should compensate for movement normally.

Could you please rewrite serial number in the Connection tab? I think the problem happened likely after update - possibly when power was disconnected.
But it can be fixed for sure. I will let you know procedure.

Hi,
Thank you for your quick response, I have initialized the unit, the elevator servo tilted up as before and then the pitch pump happens and then no movement at all with servos, the unit led blinks about once every second.
I then connected the software and it started as normal, status connected, version 3.2.0
Serial number 55-14-2-54-fad-2
The spirit settings v3.2.1
The firmware and the version numbers don’t match but settings in software are the ones saved the first time it was set up.
Still no response from servos.

Hi,

are you sure that servos are connected at the right ports?
They must be connected at the CH1 - CH4 ports.

I can see the unit is over 5 years old, so it seems the unit was working properly until now.

It seems the problem I thought was there is not the case. So I recommend to go to the Diagnostic tab and then enter the Spectrum Analysis.
Then please try to move with the model in any way. You should see the plot is changing according movement of the model.
Is this the case?

Yes the servos are in the right ports,
I have reconnected the tx and unit just now and the elevator rises and then the pitch pump, I picked up heli and am getting all movement of the servos as per gyro but nothing when I move any sticks
I then ran the software and it didn’t connect it gave a notice to start demo, recovery, and wizard and at that point there was no more movement fro gyros, everything not moving again.
Last night when i connected to soft ware the unit connected as normal but this morning it didn’t connect

I guess that something is connected improperly.

Can you disconnect everything that is not needed there?

Stick might not react just in case when Receiver type is configured to other type.
What is your receiver and what Receiver type is selected in the unit?
What BEC is used?

First you have to set correct receiver type. Otherwise sticks will do nothing.
