I am setting up a GT with Geolink 2 on the bench and had a few questions after reading the manual.

The manual says that the "F: Geo-Link Position Hold" function works similarly to "F: Coaxial." If so, why duplicate the function already found on the GT? What if any advantgae is obtained by programming "F: Geo-Link Position Hold"?

As far as interactions, how will the Heli respond if already in "F: Coaxial" mode and "F: Geo-Link Position Hold" is commanded?

Also, how will the Heli respond if "F: Stabilsation (Normal)" is active and "F: Geo-Link Position Hold" is commanded?

Just trying to understand all of this so I can make the good decisions on how to set this all up.

Hello msromike. Did you ever get a response to your questions? I just bought a GT unit with GeoLink and I have the same questions as you. Thank you.

In geolink position hold the flying/steering is similar to coaxial mode, but otherwise the function is not the same. Coaxial just returns the model to level when the sticks are released, but it can still drift off slowly because the unit has no sense of its position.

Geolink position hold is assisted by GPS and will actively correct to stay in the same spot, and even try to return there if for example the model is blown away.

As for activating both functions simultaneously, coaxial+position hold is no problem and the geolink function will complement the stabilization function. The manual even recommends doing this if you don't have a free channel and want to trigger geolink with stabi function. For other combinations I assume there is some sort of priority but I don't have that information.

Hello,

here you can find answer to your question:
https://manual.spirit-system.com/index. ... ition_Hold

It is similar, but not same. Similarity is in the model steering, but unlike Coaxial mode it hold position when sticks are released.
Coaxial mode is working with all Spirit units without GeoLink mode, Position Hold is extension of this mode.

Thanks for the great explanation. I am assuming you can enable F: Geo-link Altitude Hold and F: Geo-link Position Hold at the same time without a problem?

The reason I assume this is that it seems to be encouraged by being facilitated in the software design. These two functions can both be on the same radio channel, and Spirit Settings 3.7.1 reports that both are active (in blue) with +100 Rx output on the shared assigned channel.

Yes, you are right. Both can be engaged at the same time.
