I updated my Spirit to 2.6.0 yesterday, and today tried to update my geolink to 1.02. The geolink update got a third of the way through and stopped. Then it gave me the option to retry or abort. I did a retry followed by an abort as the retry didn't work. Now I get no LED's and not connected on the geolink page. I've tried the recovery, but that hasn't worked. No matter what I do, I can't get an LED on the geolink or any comms! Help!!

Hello,
Very likely your GeoLink was already at the 1.0.2 version, right? So update was actually not needed.
Do you have any Spirit Pro unit? If so, then recovery process might be easier there.
For recovery you have to: 1. Power up everything 2. Start the software, go to the GeoLink window, Update tab 3. Select GeoLink firmware and then press the Flash button. Choose the Recovery flashing. 4. Once you will click the OK button, try to unplug the GeoLink cable and plug it back immediately. This step is the most important. The Spirit unit should never reboot.
If performed correctly, the flashing process will start immediately.

Hi
I have the standard spirit (not the pro). Pretty sure it was on 1.0.1
I'll try again this evening, but pretty sure I've already done as you've stated. However, every time I pull the power on the Geolink, the FBL controller reboots and I loose comms. Perhaps I'm doing something in the wrong order??
Will the geolink software be corrupted by a partial update?
Thanks

Hi,
the problem is that the unit is rebooting once you plug in the GeoLink cable. If it is a very old Spirit unit, then the recovery is quite hard to perform. So it is much easier to have a new Spirit unit or a Spirit Pro for this process.
The faster you will replug the cable from GeoLink, the bigger chance it will not reboot. With Spirit Pro there is at least 10 seconds time to perform the re-plug.
If the flashing will be finished then there will be no issue.

I've got a normally closed momentary switch I'll solder into a spare lead.
Is this ok to use on the red power wire only, or do I need to break and make all 3 wires?
Thanks

Just red wire is enough. But if you would spend too much time with it, we could do it for free for you. It is just matter of one minute.

Hi
I made up a cable with a switch which enabled me to start loading the new firmware, however, when loading, it goes 17% back to 14%, then 34% to 31% and various other percentages. It did this approximately 15 times, occasionally jumping back the same amount several times. when it gets to 100% it always says failed. Sometimes it comes up flashing failed, abort/retry, but whatever I select when it gets to 100% it always says failed.
A few times I have had the blue LED on solid, but if I reboot the spirit it goes out and if I try a firmware load with 'continue flashing' it looses comms to the spirit. I have also had it get to 100% and it has failed but a box comes up telling me to click recovery and power off/on the geolink. If I do this it looses comms.
I have another standard spirit, but this won't recognise the geolink, even if I load the parameters copied from the original unit.
Any more ideas?
Thanks

Success!!
Downloaded 2.5.2 fw to the spirit, then downgraded the software to 2.5.2 and updated the geolink fw. The % climbed without dropping back, and at 100% I had successful displayed.
I'll upgrade to 2.60 and see if all is well.
Many thanks
Ian

Very well. At least we have found how to solve the problem.
Thank you for the message!
