My equipment:

Spirit Pro
Jeti DS-16 radio
Jeti Mezon ESC with RPM out wire

I understand that the throttle signal needs to be above 1250us for fast spoolup governor bailout. The problem that I am having is that the blades spin whenever the throttle signal is above 1250us. I can get the blades to stop spinning with the throttle signal below 1250us, but it also means that the governor bailout becomes deactivated, so no fast spoolup. My guess is that I may have to adjust the Throttle Range on the Spirit (Default 1100us min and 1900us max). Please help.

Have a look on my CC guide for bailout.

Concept, reduce min range to like 900, so 12% ABR level will not spin motor.
Than increase rampup till you get no delay on normal spoolup.

In order to achieve a throttle higher than 1250us I had to set the flat throttle curve to 26% which yielded 1259us. My 26% is substantially higher than the suggested 12%. I don't know if it makes a difference.

I had to bring the Spirit Throttle Min. down to 880us to stop the motor from spinning with the transmitter throttle at 26% (1259us). I left the Spirit Throttle Max. at the default of 1900us.

So here is what I am encountering. I start the transmitter on "Motor off" which is currently set to -125% Throttle (yields 875us on the transmitter). When I release "Motor off", it engages Throttle Hold which again is set to 26% Throttle (1259us). The motor is still quiet at this point. When I disengage Throttle Hold and engage one of the three IDLE UP curves (80%, 96%, and 100% Throttle curves) the motor spins in "soft start". So far so good. When I reengage Throttle Hold (26% throttle) the motor does not stop completely. I end up with a head speed of 180rpm. When I disengage Throttle Hold, the motor will spin fast and get to the desired head speed pretty quickly as expected for bailout (not soft start). I am happy that I got the Spirit Bailout to work to bail me out of a botched auto-rotation, but I wish I were able to completely stop the motor from spinning on Throttle Hold. I have to engage "Motor off" to stop the motor from spinning.

The only thing I can think of is to increase the "Motor off" from the current -125% to 0%.

Have you got FW 2.0.1? Than forget about any us (microSeconds) settings in you TX.
Spirit matches 0% to min range and 100% to max range, any signal lower than 0% wont send lower signal than min range to ESC, its a hard lower limit. Same for 100% .

As I understand, you want ARB engaged all the time and have an Init Switch to engage ESC:
As said above TX values below 0% wont' do anything, I normal 0% in Diagnostics matches 1100us in your TX.

As long as you FBL sees value above 12% it's fine with ARB engaged, so reduce your Hold till you see like 15% in Diagnostics, this should also stop the remaining spinning.
If you got delay on Statup, increase Spoolup Rampup.

That sounds pretty good. I will try those changes.

I've been reviewing other posts. It seems that the 1250us threshold is not something to be concerned about and should probably be deleted from the manual. It just causes confusion. It looks like the threshold is 11.25% throttle (let's call it 12%) on the Spirit Diagnostic. I just decreased the Throttle Hold in the transmitter from 26% (1259us) to 15% which yields 1149us. I only have the transmitter with me at this time. I don't have a helicopter with a Spirit to test. I will test with the Spirit when I get home tomorrow.

Please verify that I am following the steps correctly:

1) Remove blades

2) Power transmitter --> power ESC/BEC --> Open Spirit program in computer

3) Bring Spirit Throttle Range back to default min 1100us and max 1900us

4) Verify throttle calibration between transmitter stick and Spirit Diagnostic Tab (0% to 100%)

5) Set Throttle Hold flat throttle curve in the transmitter so that it reads 15% in the Spirit Diagnostic Tab. Expect the motor to spin

6) Reduce Spirit Throttle Range min from the default 1100us until the motor stops spinning. Expect the final number to be around 900us.

7) Test for slow initial spoolup and for fast response spoolup

Other Questions:

1) I am using the Jeti Mezon ESC. I set the Operation Mode to <Fast Response> which is what the Jeti Mezon menu recommends when using an external governor. I set the Mezon ESC Autorotation to <OFF>, but I wonder if I should set it to <ON> like with the Castle ESC Autorotation check box. I just don't know how this would affect the Spirit governor, and if it may cause an unwanted interaction. Should I turn the Mezon ESC Autorotation to <ON> or should I just leave it on <OFF>?

2) I still do not understand the Spirit "Spoolup Rate" (Very slow, Slow, Fast, Very fast) and "Spoolup Rampup". Do these parameter only affect the initial spoolup, or do they affect the fast autorotation bailout spoolup?

Your steps make sense to me. When motor stops spinning, reduce by extra 30-50us.

1) If it's working as you like, don't use ARB from Menzo.
I only use it in CC as I like to keep Spool up from CC. But than by reducing TC to stop Motor, next Spool up will be initial (slow) and Spirit ARB won't take effect, so I need to use ARB from CC as well and have to match the two thresholds, what I described in the guide.

2a) Spool up rate is the speed of Initial Spool up and ARB spool up, while ARB will by around 1/3 of initial spool up. Just give it a try, but with blades on field as you need load.
2b) Spool up rampup means, if you got now min @ 900us but you motor starts at 1100us you usual have to wait till Gov gets to 1100us to stat motor, with the Rampup 200us Gov starts @ 900us + 200us = 1100us, which means motor will start immediately. However in your case as us use a cut switch to init ESC and keep signal to ESC right below Motor spinning keep this at default 50us or even reduce. If you got delay, increase.

Make sure you hit your cut(Init) switch all times before next spool up doing "in between landings", as your next spool up is a ARB Spool up with lot's of power on gear and head.
That's the reason I'm using ARB Training switch with mixer, as described in the guide, as I need this only when doing AR Training by intention.
