I have a Moto G4 android phone. I have used the WiFi link a bit, which does work but it's a bit fiddly from a wiring standpoint to connect the WiFi unit at the field. I do NOT want to leave it connected due to space constraints and the desire to use it on more than one heli.

If it could be connected with just the SYS port that would be fine, but having to remove a servo to connect the power lead is a recipe for trouble IMHO.

Is there any easier way to connect the WiFi link to the Spirit?

Alternatively, is there any way to connect an Android phone to the USB link? (this would be ideal)

Would a short servo Y lead solve your problem then you just plug in and not disturb the servo wire.....

Yeah I have done that, it's debatable as to whether that's really more convenient and / or safer. My hope is that it will only take a couple more tweaks to get it flying like I want. But that's not counting the Geolink I was going to try eventually.

I thought maybe I could power it with a NiMh pack so I did try that using a Y lead but it didn't work, it appears to be operating but the Spirit app is not locating the FBL unit.

What do you think the problem could be with Spirit app not locating the FBL unit? Isn't that supposed to be a simple task?

Usage of external power will unfortunately not work unless you will connect GND too. So - from battery must be somehow connected also at the unit - possibly to the SYS port. Then it can work with just one lead connected.
