Post subject:  Need Advice on Where to Install Spirit Pro

Hi,

I’ll appreciate if you can recommend a place to install the Spirit Pro in my Extra300LP 30cc gas airplane. It has mounting plates but all of them have holes. I don’t know if they will be a good solid place to install the unit.

The plate closest to the front is where the tank will be placed. I’m planning to mount the electronics in the second plate.

Thanks,

David

I would say, as closed as possible of the CG of the plane.

Hi,

Installing the unit close to the CG is not possible (front tray). There will be no space on the tray to mount it as there is where the fuel tank will be placed.

Thanks,

David

Hi,

I recommend to perform it similar as written in the manual:
http://aero-man.spirit-system.com/index ... stallation

I recommend to choose the front plate which should be the strongest place. It is important so that it will not flex. So rather not in the middle of the plate.

I would mount at the plate near or under the (carbon?) tube.

Okay, thanks.

In regards to vibrations, which orientation is better, vertical or horizontal?

Horizontal, because it has usually larger mounting surface. So that the unit will not move that easily at the frame.
