Post subject:  Vibration telemetry value?

I was flying my Whiplash G2 heli today and looked at the vibration telemetry that the Spirit Pro sent down to my Jeti radio. On the Jeti it is expressed as a percentage, on this gas heli it was pretty much always around 6%, the heli flies perfectly and rescue is flawless.

I was thinking though, what does that vibe reading actually mean? What is the Spirit able to tolerate and still fly well? Does it go to 100%?

Any input on this? I thought posting here would be the best way to get an answer on Spirit stuff

Sorry for delay,

Vibration level that you see is measured in a different way than Spectrum Analysis in the software.
It is measuring rather vibration level during a maneuvers/load. If you will be flying harder you will be able to see a bigger vibrations.

Spirit can fly well beyond what your helicopter can take. But so big vibrations mean that something in the mechanics is not balanced which usually adds a friction. And friction is killing performance of all servos. So it can fly well as long as the mechanics is moving smoothly.
Too big vibrations will start to unscrew all screws, so it is always better to fly only with model in good condition even that with bad it could fly well too.

The best for diagnostic is Spectrum Analysis which can tell you condition quite accurately. It can be measured also during flight by assigned switch to F: Spectrum Analysis function. Usually Aileron (Y) axis is the worst.

So what do these percent vibration telemetry values mean in practical terms? What vibration percent value is considered acceptable, and what vibration percent value should be cause for concern?

You can see vibration level that was not possible to filter. So any % could have an influance. But generally anything under 15% is good.
You should be concerned if you can consistently see anything above 40%.

That is very helpful. Thank you.
