Post subject:  Backward drift during Rescue

I'm new to flying with the Spirit. I have not had a real-life Rescue need yet, but expect I will. I test this feature with each flight though, and have noticed that I get some backward drift as the heli ascends.

I've tested this from a stable hover. Is there a setting that I should explore that might counter this, or is this a sign that I don't have something quite right?

I'm flying a 450 size heli using two SATs only.

Hello,

normally this drift shouldn't occur if everything is correct.
So we have to find what is wrong.

Can you tell me, if you are moving with the helicopter after initialization? If so, can you describe how?
What firmware version do you have installed?
What model do you have?

Thank you!

I moved the heli after the swash did it's dance and I toggled throttle hold active. I walked maybe 30 feet to the flight line.

FM 2.0

Spirit classic (not the Pro).

Stretch tail 450Pro running 360mm align blades with about 2900 HS.

Hey Tomás,

that's funny. I have the exakt same behavior with my Triabolo, but i didn't care that much, because the drift is minimal and i do not use the rescue very often. I always initialize the Helicopter next to our Clubhouse and walk 70m to the flying field while holding the heli at the rotor head. The landing gear of the Heli is smaller in the front, so the Spirit is not 100% horizontal.

Did your question

mean, that this could be the reason? So it should be gone, when i initialize the helicopter direct at the flying field?

best regards,
Chris

Yes, it could be a problem.

If the helicopter is at some angle it will learn it as horizontal position. If you start immediately, then it can be still incorrect - it can fix itself even in the flight, but chances are not that high.
On the other hand if you will wait for a few seconds with helicopter on the ground, it will correct itself.

You can check this by activating the rescue before spoolup - the swashplate should be perfectly level.

Ahoj,

Hi,
my problem was similar but more complicated.
After rescue activating heli tilt about 5°backward, and after release rescue tilt + another 5°.
Solution: The correct setting swash plate levelling
