Post subject:  Single Servo Mechnical Mixing

Hello, May I know if the Spirit works with a Single Servo Mechanical Mixing type heli?

I want to try it with my Hirobo Sceadu 50 (mechanical mixing and not SWM version/Hirobo's name for CCPM).
I want to be able to use the rescue to have a better chance to preserve my loved first heli 'cause parts are so scarce.
I tried BD3SX but couldn't really get the rescue to work. It was going crazy whenever I hit rescue on my test flights.
Thanks

Hello,

yes, it is fully supported.
There are pilots flying with the same model and Spirit units for quite long time.

In case of any question feel free to ask.

Thanks or the reply.
I will try it out.
What swashplate should I use for the sceadu SPM?

Hello ZeXx86,
I am trying to setup the spirit with my Sceadu (Mechanical Mixing/Flybar).
-iX12
-TM8000 Rx
-Swasplate: CCPM 90
-Servo Pulse/Frequency: correct values based on Spirit website (cyclic:S3152 Cyclic, 1520µs, 200Hz)

-Gear to Spirit Aux
-no Banks, Switch A = Pos/Neg Gains

When setting my collective pitch angle, I can only get +/-7.5deg (pitch range set to max).
I can get 7deg for cyclic pitch.

So, I tried connecting to the original stand alone gyro i used before trying out the BD3SX and I got 10deg on coll. pitch (there was actually some binding because I used the endpoints I set with the Spirit. Fixed endpoints, and 0 deg, Collective pitch, cyclic pitch are ok. Btw, when I set up the BD3SX, I got the 10deg collective too.

Observations:
-In the Diagnose page, The Ail/Ele gives me different values on +/- maximum throws of the stick. Values are sometimes +100,+82,+111.
-Pitch,Rud, Gyro are ok.
-had to put subtrims on the Tx to get 0 value on midstick of Ail and Ele.

Any ideas?

Hello,

it is good to proceed according the Setup wizard, especially regarding channels. Also please do not use radio profile that was used with other FBL system. Clean profile is always better.

With default settings in your radio (if you are using SRXL or Spektrum DSM2 satellites) the diagnostic tab should show +/- 100% for each channel.
Usage of subtrims is unfortunately not correct, because during next powerup it will be recalibrated.

So first from all please make sure that collective pitch, aileron, elevator, rudder channels are moving from -100 to 100%. This is very important for the basic setup.

Regarding your collective pitch range, by default it is configured to be small. But with Collective Pitch Range parameter you can increase it a lot.

Hello ZeXx86,
As per your suggestion, I redid everything including binding to a new model in the iX12. I am using a dedicated Rx (TM8000).
I finished the setup and got +/-10deg for my collective. I adjusted values in the "Servo Travel Correction" page.
Thank you for the help. :)

Just a side note: In the Diagnostic page, the software registered "0" for the midpoints (w/ my Tx having zero subtrims) except for the Gyro Channel. It got "2" for midpoint. So, my positive/negative Gyro values in the Tx is not the same with the software. 54, -55 in tx = 55,-55 in software 65, -66 in tx= 66, -66. Will this be an issue whenever I hit rescue? Btw, I did the rebind and setup twice just to be sure re the "0" at midpoint.

Hello,

binding has no influence for the midpoints, but regarding Gyro Gain and Rescue it is not an issue.
