Post subject:  Geolink altitude limit question

Today I got the Spirit with Geolink and configured everything according to the manual. So far so good. It took some time to get the calibration done. but that probably because I wanted to fly to quickly.

So when I am flying upright or inverted everything works as designed. (I need to fine tune a little but that is fine). then I was trying to do a flight knife-edge (90 degree aileron) and let it drop. It did not rescue and would hit the ground if I did not rescue it myself 1 meter above ground. (the height limit was configured at 15 meters)

Is this as designed or do need it to configure something ?

Hello,

described behavior is not correct.
There are possibilities:
  • GeoLink lost GNSS signal at the moment when helicopter was at a side, which is not too likely - this can be verified in the GeoLink flight log
  • GeoLink lost connection with Spirit unit - can be verified in the Spirit log.
  • Mounting position of the GeoLink is not optimal.

Could you review these logs? At least GeoLink flight log should be saved.

I tried the knife edge in different flights and it was always same behaviour.

i will do some flights later today and will read the log after the flight as when I do it now it only shows the log from today.

in the geolink log I cannot see any signal losses.

Mounting is on the boom

Great. In the GeoLink log you can see height. It would be interesting to check what height was logged when Rescue should be engaged.
So it is important to check if GeoLink can really sense the height correctly.

So i tried it different times and different ways.

if the heli is in upright or inverted position the rescue is done at 14 meters (15 is configured)

if I put the heli in knife edge position there is no rescue at all and I turned it upright at 2 meters. I tried both knife edge positions.

The mounting is on the Boom. In the logs i cannot see anything strange or loss in singnal

We tested also another Geolink and it has the same issue. when nose down or knife edge it does not rescue in altitude limit

Hello Erik,

thanks for the details. Could you take a photo of how GeoLink is mounted at the model, please? This is the main factor that has influence on the pressure sensor.
