Will the new FrSky R9 Slim+ work with Spirit?

Currently running my Goblin Speed / Spirit Pro on a Horus X10S with a FrSky X4R-SB. The more I fly my quads on my X-Lite, the more I like the form factor.

That being said, the only way I would be comfortable with the big 700 on the X-Lite for some reason would be to go R9 on it and I have that module on the way already.

The only reason I question it is because this:

"The difference lies in it's ability to communicate with additional external devices that require an inverted SBUS or S.Port output signal.

Features:
Inverted SBUS and S.Port Outputs"

Hello,

R9 Slim+ should be compatible but wiring will be not that easy. You will have to perform some soldering.
We have not tested it but if they did not changed protocols then it will work.

The R9 will be very likely 2-3x slower in comparison to other receivers.

The R9 system is slower?

It is working on much slower frequency to achieve wider radio signal cover.
But reducing the frequency has always impact on the speed.

Oh, I thought you were referring to the connection between the RX and Spirit Pro.

So would the normal R9 Slim (not the newer +) be a plug and play replacement to the X4R-SB?

R9 Slim and R9 Slim+ are nearly identical.
But both should work.

But if I could choose I would stay with X4R-SB, because cables here are more rigid and there are standard servo connectors.
And you can also connect throttle (or other peripheral) directly to the receiver. So more ports are available.

R9 is designed rather for multi-copters.
