I posted about this on Helifreak. If you can look at this thread, it will save me some typing
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=799294

I am using the separate channel method to control Stabi on Aux3 of my DX18. The manual seems to say that -gain turns on Stabi and +gain is normal flying (Stabi off). Only the opposite seems to work. I understand that gain polarity is somewhat arbitrary but I send + values for gyro gain on CH5 and they come across as + values. + values on Aux 3 activates Stabi but that manual seems to say it should be - values.

I have it working (but not flight tested yet) but it it is bothersome when things don't seem to match your very well written manual.

Hi,

I haven't received my unit yet but I was going through the PDF manual and stumbled upon the Stabi Mode section 2.2.

It seems that negative Gyro channel input is Head Lock and positive is Rate Mode. This is what I understand from Function= DIsabled, Gain 0%-100% results in a Rate Mode Gyro.

I will configure my unit with separate channel but I will disable the stabi from the software initially. So, according to the manual -100%-0% will be head lock and 0%-100% will be rate mode.

Is this correct?

Hi,

no, this is not correct.
Positive Gyro Gain always activate Head-Lock mode in all cases.

We have made another update in the manual to make it perfectly clear. Now there is just one table.

Please check this page:

Sorry to be a pain, but for example:

Disabled -100% - 0% - Head-Lock / Normal

shouldn't it be better like this:

Disabled -100% - 100% - normal / Head-lock

and another example:

Rescue (Normal) -100% - 0% - Head-Lock

means that even if I am in normal flight, but the Stabi function is on a separate channel, I cannot change to Normal (rate mode) by going to a negative gain?

Of course I will test out these functions on the bench to better understand it but I always find it reassuring to verify with the manual.

Thanks, and again, I'm sorry for nitpicking.

I think that
Quote:
Disabled -100% - 100% - normal / Head-lock

would save one line. But from our point of view it is better to list each function and channel value separately. This reduces thinking why one option is actually "missing". Our aim is to make it as clear as possible.

Yes, you are right.

OK, but doesn't this:

Disabled -100% - 0% - Head-Lock / Normal

mean that I can change from headlock to normal from -100% to 0%, when in reality -100%-0% is normal and 0%-100% is Headlock?

No,
the % there are mentioned for Channel that you will select for Stabi Function. So this is not determining the Gyro Mode.
It will only determine which modes are available.
Gyro Gain channel and Stabi Function channel are two separate things.

Ah, that makes sense. I don't know why I understood that "channel" was referring to the gyro channel when it was clearly referring to the Stabi channel.

Thank you for your patience
