I'm using a regular Spirit along with a Jeti EX bus receiver and a Scorpion 160A Esc.
Basically I am struggling to get the ESC to initialize and arm.

If the ESC is plugged directly into the Jeti receiver and the Spirit bypassed I can calibrate it and will work OK.

The TX has been calibrated OK at 0-100%
Any ideas?

Hello,

usually the only problem can be in Throttle Range. Please check what is configured in the Spirit Settings - General - Throttle/Governor - Throttle Range.
By changing Min. value it should solve the problem. Decreasing the value might help. Default is 1100us.

OK, I did try to find the maximum and minimum range for the ESC but had no luck.
How much lower than 1100us do you think I would need to go?

Strange thing is that I have had this ESC working OK before set up with a Spirit Pro without having to change this.
Would there be any differences between the PRO unit and the regular one I am trying to use?

Ah, if the value are same, then it could be another problem.

I am not sure which unit you have, but with older units from 2014 and earlier some Scorpion ESCs were not arming. For this reason we have changed the AUX port for all newer units. Very same change is helping also for the Castle telemetry.
So if this is the case, we will have to change one resistance (part) in your unit.

If you can tell me serial number of your unit, I can tell you how old it is.

We are doing this mod for free.

Can't remember exactally when I got it but it is still a new and unused unit.

Great, this should be already new series.

When you look at the unit through the pin header inside the unit, you should see Spirit System label on the board. Is this true?

Perfect, then the problem will be probably just in the Throttle Range.
You can move the range down to the minimum value, but around 1000us it should already initialize.
You can just go with key down until it will arm to change the value from 1100 to a lower.

A bit more information regarding the Scorpion ESC.

This was a new and bench tested unit that I had spare and I decided to sell it.
As mentioned all working using a Spirit Pro unit without any problems.

The guy who bought it returned it back to me saying that it could not get it to initialize using his Brain unit.

So I have been trying to set it up again to check if it has a problem or not before doing anything else.

Using exactally the same Jeti TX and RX but a different Spirit unit I seem to have the same problem and as mentioned directly plugged into jeti receiver it will initilize and the motor will run.

So I was a bit confused really as to where the problem is.

I will try reducing the minimum value to see what that does

Hmm that is interesting.
So it can still initialize well also now with other units/receivers? Am I right?

That mean that whatever happened, it worked for you earlier. But now it might not be the case.
