I am struggling wiring the Spirit Pro using the HW Platinum 130a V4 Opto. I am using HoTT.

SYS -> Telemetry Port (Graupner GR-18 Channel 9)
CH0
CH1 -> Servo
CH2 -> Servo
CH3 -> Servo
CH4 -> Servo
AUX2
AUX1 -> External BEC (red/black)?
RUD -> SUMD Port RX (Graupner GR-18 Channel 6)
ELE/PIT/AIL

The Hobbywing has 3 Connectors (see attachment): -+R, -+S, -+P. Since its an Opto i'm not sure which one belongs where. Do i only have to attach (3) Throttle Signal Cable to the Spirit Pro? Do i need to plug all 3 pins from the Throttle? Should it go to AUX1 and therefore move the external BEC to AUX2?

To connect the telemetry from the HW -> Spirit this cable should be used: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... _Telemetry. Can i attached it using a Y cable on the Programming Port since im running the ESC using the fan?

Is it correct that i don't need the -+R port since it's an Opto (no BEC output) and the RPM signal is not used (->telemetry...)

Many questions :roll:
Thanks for your help in advance

Hello!

Your connection scheme seems to be correct, except AUX1. AUX1 is used as Throttle output for the ESC.
For external BEC I recommend to use AUX2 and/or CH0 ports.

You do not have to connect -+R since Telem UNI cable has GND wire too. So you only have to connect throttle cable. You will not need to connect middle pin (red) from the throttle connector - to be safe.

Yes, you can use programming port for fan (including Y-cable).

Hey

I'm still struggling... No throttle signal detected by the ESC

This is how it is connected atm:
SYS -> Telemetry Port (Graupner GR-18 Channel 9)
CH0 -> not used
CH1 -> Servo
CH2 -> Servo
CH3 -> Servo
CH4 -> Servo
AUX2 -> External BEC only red/black
AUX1 -> Throttle Port to HW ESC (removed middle red wire)
RUD -> SUMD Port RX (Graupner GR-18 Channel 6) according to wiring described in http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... gration/en
ELE/PIT/AIL -> not used

Telemetry from ESC is working from my transmitter, Servos move properly, except the Hobbywing ESC never gets a signal from the Spirit Pro. When connected to a computer, i see the throttle channel and its showing properly the throttle value from 0 - 100%. I also connected a servo to AUX1 and its moving properly when i change throttle (servo obv. also has the red wire connected in contrast to the HW ESC).

The HW ESC always beeps, signaling there is no throttle signal.

I tried different frequencies (60, 120, 200Hz), disabled/enabled the governor in spirit but it's always the same result. What am I missing here?

I would like to use the governor in the spirit. Is the telemetry channel a valid replacement for the rpm out of the ESC?

Regards
Oli

Hello,

it is always needed to recalibrate throttle range in the ESC.
I recommend to do this as described in the instructions of the Hobbywing. (this must be done with Governor disabled)
Alternative solution is to open software and change Throttle Range - Min. You only have to change the value until the ESC will initialize (with throttle hold engaged).
But you also should set up correctly upper limit for the throttle (Throttle Range - Max.). You can set it so that you will increase the value until there will be no change (when you set 100% TC). This can be configured without motor pinion for higher safety.

But usual calibration will work well too and can be much faster.

I also disabled Spirit's gov and turned everything on with 100% throttle. Still the same. ESC is beeping and waiting for signal.

First you have to set the Minimum (lowest position) signal for the ESC. Once it is valid for the ESC, then it will initialize.
Before this will happen, throttle will not react at all.

If your ESC is in default and unit settings too, then it should work out of the box. If you have already used the ESC in other model, then it will require recalibration (or method by changing the range manually).

Default throttle range is 1100 - 1900. For HobbyWing it should be 1100 - 1940 as described in their guide. But the most important is minimum value. If wrong, it will not initialize and act as there is no signal.
Very likely your value is too high.

I disabled the governor in spirit, set the throttle range to 1100-1940. no matter what my throttle is it never initializes. To calibrate the esc to the throttle range i need to turn it on with throttle at 100%. But still it doesn't get any signal like i'm starting it at 0% throttle. It's a brand new ESC, not used in another model. I also reset the ESC to factory default and also flashed the latest firmware so that the throttle range is reset to 1100-1940.

Is GND wire from the Throttle cable connected in the unit too?

Also did you tried to change the Throttle Range - Min. manually? Just use mouse wheel and change the value to for example 900us. At least for a try.

Yes ground wire is connected.

I tried 1000μs... i'll try it with lower values. I wondered if i need to turn the spirit off-on to apply the settings after saving?

Tried 900μs and 500μs. Same result. Next suspect is going to be the cable?
